Learn about EPA DERA Grants

The EPA is now accepting applications for its DERA (Diesel Emissions Reduction Act) national grants program, which reduces diesel pollution by providing partial funding for the purchase of cleaner-burning engines and power alternatives. Fishing vessels are eligible for DERA, and the DERA program can be a valuable leg-up for fishermen focused on the longevity of their businesses — but is this program right for you? Attend this webinar to find out!

This webinar aims to help fishermen and their representatives understand the DERA federal grant opportunity, including its pros and cos, and find out what you need to do in order to apply. You will hear from:

DERA BASICS

The DERA national grants program is accepting applications until January 22, 2027. This program can provide partial funding for marine vessel owners to purchase cleaner-burning (higher tier) engines (mains and generators) and battery and hybrid propulsion options, and for ports to install shore power hook-ups (shore side only). Eligibility is open to state agencies, local agencies, Tribal agencies, and port authorities, and to nonprofits that represent or provide pollution reduction or educational services to people or organizations that own or operate diesel fleets or promote transportation or air quality. More information can be found at the EPA’s Notice of Funding Opportunity.
