About

This 9-page memo provides preliminary guidance for engaging commercial fishermen in the context of: mCDR project design, assessing baseline biogeochemical conditions of prospective mCDR sites; monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) of mCDR projects; and assessments of impacts to marine resources via pre-development and post-development site-specific fisheries surveys.

“Have fishermen be part of the team in some meaningful way. Not just a one-time interview, but an ongoing relationship, working side by side. Have them involved at every stage to observe and bring in thoughts that haven’t been considered by the research team who haven’t been on the water where the projects will be.” – Fishing industry member
